Training is going well and my Sunday runs are increasing in mileage. The quality of my runs mid-week are also improving as I add a bit more variety with hill and speed work.
I’ve started going back to my local running club, however I didn’t go last week because of my daughter’s birthday and I’ve decided I’m not going today either. I’ve had a really bad day and I’m lacking motivation (only at the moment). Realistically I should be making the effort to go run because I know that it will give me the lift I need and it is the better option. However, I’ve decided to stay home this evening and chill out. I’ll go to the gym in the morning and do a hill training session on the treadmill to make up for it.
I promise I will go to running club next Wednesday!
The Reading Half Marathon is fast approaching and it won’t be long before the race day (29 March 2009). I’ve discovered there are a few people from my work (in another department) that are also taking part in the event.
I’m confident that as long as I stay focused and concentrate on quality workouts I’ll remain injury free and hopefully do a sub 2 hour time on the day.
I’ve started to look for runs to fill up my diary throughout 2009. Besides the Half Marathon in March I want to do another series of 10k runs through the rest of the year and perhaps another Half Marathon nearer the end of the year. I’ve already registered for the Bupa 10,000 which takes place on 25 May 2009 in London. I’m also hoping to do another one in May on the 17th (depending on how I feel). June seems to be the hard month for me to fill because I want to stay local. I don’t really want to travel miles for an event unless it is a really memorable one. July should be okay event-wise because I’ll enter the Great Capital Run again. It was one of the best events of the year last year and I even achieved a PB (Personal Best) for my 10k time.
On non-running related matters, my daughter had her 22nd birthday last Weds. Me and my fiance went out for dinner with her and her husband and it was a nice evening with good company and conversation. Although, I ate way too much.
My friend Robby had his birthday on 02 February. He’s currently in northern Canada taking a team of sled dogs (and sled) across Canada to Alaska. He’s going to be “off the radar” for some time and I hope he has a safe journey.
My little boy is well in to his terrible twos. He’s a very good boy generally; he’s just like most two year olds and has the odd “moment” where it all becomes a bit much.
My fiance is still as lovely as always.
