As I was a little pressed for time today I wasn’t able to do any long runs, but it’s Monday and I wouldn’t have anyway! My training plan calls for a long walk on a Saturday (the day before my long run) and a short 1 mile run the day after my long run. So, not having much time was okay. 1.6km, a shower and then off to catch the train to London.
I’m really starting to feel much better for all of this training and it’s making a difference in my confidence as well as how my clothes fit! I’m glad there is still a couple of weeks to go because I really want to do this and push myself. All those years before 2007 of being unfit (and smoking) and I’ve never felt as good as I have done these past few years since I started running. I may not be the lightest guy in the world and I’ll certainly never be an elite runner, but I love the feeling running gives me. Not just the endorphins you get immediately after running, but the feeling all the time. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not new to running. Like I said, I’ve been doing it since 2007 and I’m just pointing out the fact that I enjoy it immensely. I feel that running has helped to improve my overall lifestyle and I hope to keep doing it as long as my little short thick legs will let me.
You may also be interested to know that I’ve used the wondrous Slendertone System again today and I’m still doing it on the maximum setting of 99. I know it sounds strange because I’ve only used it four times so far, but I think it’s actually making a difference. However, when I use it, I sound like one of the weirdo grunting guys at the gym now. I can’t help but grunt/groan occasionally when using it because the contractions are pretty strong.
Tomorrow I’ve got to do 45 mins ‘easy’ so that will be another 6km or so to add to my totals for Janathon.
