Manfluenza

Ten days in to June and also Juneathon but not much running coming from the Virtual Runner at the moment.

We had some holidays recently and my wife, son and I went to Normandy, France for a week with Eurocamp.  We only got back during the long weekend and then I had work and now to top things off I’ve got a cold/flu.

Colds for me (and everyone else I imagine) really suck.  They tend to go straight for my sinuses and I end up with sinus infection and the constant sneezing sets off my asthma… good times.

So, here I am just after midnight on a Sunday night with a head full of snot and wheezing like an old man with emphysema.  Again… good times.

I haven’t had a chance to see how everyone is getting along with their Juneathon efforts but I think I’ll have a look tonight to help kill some time until I pass out.

Last week at work was good.  It was only a three day week and I managed to secure some half decent income for the company with a new client win.  I was pretty chuffed with that as it was the first one where I’ve done most of the work and reports myself.

As for the holiday to France, we took our car.  I’ve been living in the UK for over 14 years and I’ve never driven to one of the countries across the sea or channel.  The holiday we booked was really good and cost around £550 for a week and that included the ferry and accommodation.  Couldn’t fault any of it.

France has got great food and drink, great highways/roads, amazing beaches and lots of things to see and do.  If you’ve never been then I recommend it.  We made our way all along the Normandy beaches from Omaha and across to Honfleur.  I also made a point of going to the Juno Beach Centre to see the spot where the Canadians came ashore on D Day.

I’m outta here for now.  Hopefully this cold/flu will clear up over the next day or two so I can at least start exercising again and burn off some of the french baguettes….
