Long Run & iPod Issues

Last Updated on Monday, 9 March 2009 Written by The Virtual Runner Sunday, 8 March 2009

Long run went okay this morning and I covered 20.09km (12.48 miles) at a 05:37 min/km (09:03 min/mile) pace.

If I can maintain that sort of pace at the Reading Half Marathon then I will definitely achieve my ultimate goal of sub 2 hours.

Long run went well and the sun came out to join me on my laps of the lakes at Dinton Pastures.  I even saw a couple of other runners who decided to take advantage of the short period of sun today.

I also saw someone named Kevin that I used to work with.  This is where the iPod issues happened.  I stopped for a minute to say hello to Kevin at 13.43km and when I went to un-pause my iPod/Nike+ it said “workout completed”… Nooooooooooo!

I had to restart the damn thing and do a separate workout of 6.66km to finish my total overall distance.  It’s not a big deal but it means that when I upload my runs to Nike+ they won’t recognise it as my longest run yet.  Piece of crap.

That’s it for now and probably today.  We are off to The Lookout in Bracknell and then we are going to visit my other half’s mum before coming back home to chill out for the day.

Enjoy the day everyone and happy running.

Congrats on your long run! I used to use the Nike+ and can relate to your mishap. I use a Garmin now, and sometimes I hit the on/off instead of the lap button… drives me crazy!

When I get the testicular fortitude (and the money) I will eventually get a Garmin.

At the moment my anger levels will be maintained by Nike+ (or minus).
